The Rock Academy is seeking an energetic, experienced Director/Early Childhood Educator.
The Director will be responsible for the operation of the Rock Academy Early Education Center (EEC). The Director creates an environment of excellence and Christ-centeredness where students grow and thrive socially, spiritually and developmentally. The Director ensures compliance with regulations and has the authority to acknowledge receipt of deficiency notices and to correct deficiencies that constitute immediate threats to children's health and safety. The Director oversees and develops the teaching and support staff, ensuring that each team member is qualified, trained, and equipped to offer exceptional care. The Director serves on the Academy administrative team with the K-6 Principal and 7-12 Principal, and reports to the Head of Schools.
 

Job Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Accountable for the general supervision of the EEC and for the establishment of policies concerning its operation.
  • Responsible for ensuring that enriching age-appropriate curriculum is being taught in all classrooms by setting curriculum standards, learning goals and children's assessments.
  • Works collaboratively with our Rock Academy Educational Support Program Director to address early intervention issues.
  • Director will be member of Admissions Committee, responsible for recruiting, enrolling, and retaining students.
  • Available on occasional evenings/weekends to support admissions events and school awareness marketing.
  • Responsible for clear, concise and timely communication with parents regarding the program and the development of their children.
  • Responsible for recruiting, employing, training, terminating, directing and evaluating staff, and providing professional growth opportunities.
  • Develops and maintains positive relationships with the staff and is available to assist in conflict resolution using biblical principles.
  • Knowledge of the California State requirements and regulations under Title 22 for operating a preschool/Early Education Center and the ability to comply with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Responsible for maintaining up-to-date and complete records which include child files and staff files, per requirements of Community Care Licensing Division.
  • Develop and maintain a financial plan that ensures resources necessary to meet operating costs for the care and supervision of children.
  • Responsible for ensuring personal and professional growth.

Job Skills and Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Child Development preferred.
  • A minimum of five-years of experience as an Early Education/Preschool Director preferred.
  • Must have current Pediatric CPR and First Aid Certification.
  • General knowledge of federal, state and local laws regarding employment practices.
  • Must have completed 15 hours of health and safety training pursuant to Health and Safety Code Section 1596.866.
  • Must have 3 units in each of the following Child Development courses: Child Development Administration, Infant/Toddler, Family Child & Community, Principals of Child Development; Child Development-Supervision.
  • Must have a current immunization record for MMR, Dtap, and influenza.
  • Must have mandated reporter training and certification within the last 2 years.
  • Ability to recognize and maintain confidentiality.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Self-motivated and flexible.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced working environment with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to think promptly and professionally.
  • Experience in conflict resolution.
  • Proficient in MS Window operating system, MS Word, MS Excel, Basic typing, Internet E-mail and Internet usage.

  • For all grievances, follow Matthew 18 and Ephesians 4:15.
  • Successful completion of a LiveScan.
  • Regular attendee of a Bible believing Christian church.
  • Attendance at all mandatory meetings (and events, as needed).
  • Signed acknowledgement of the Rock Church Statement of Faith.
  • Adheres to policies and procedures as stated in the Rock Academy Staff Handbook.
  • Pleasant and professional personality and appearance.
  • Dress: Appropriate attire includes loose, modest clothing (no shoulders, midriffs or chest area shown for women and no "yoga pants" nor "athleisure" wear).

 

Physical Requirements:

Ability to function independently and ability to speak. Physically able to lift up to 25 lbs (with or without assistance). This position also may require long periods of standing up and walking.
